The Skeleton's first realization was that he hadn't the foggiest idea where he was, nor how he'd gotten there. His second was that he'd had another bout of memory loss. How terribly inconvenient!

The last he remembered, he'd been in the abandoned house he called "home," reading by candle light. After that, there was nothing. Just an empty space where memories should have been. Now, he was no longer surrounded by the warm darkness of his home, but by swaying trees and grass and rocks.

He glanced down at himself. Two hands, ten fingers, fully clothed, everything seemed fine. His hand traveled to his head and he was relieved to know that his beloved hat was still there. Well, at least that was one crisis he did not have to deal with! He'd have been aghast if it had been missing.

It was then that he heard movement from somewhere behind him, and he froze. Oh no. People. People meant discovery, and discovery was rarely good in his case. He was, after all, a Hollow Man--or at least, he was fairly certain that was what he was--and people tended to not react too well when faced with un-dead skeletons, no matter how many manners said skeleton possessed.

If he'd had a throat and bile to swallow with it, he may have gulped. Instead, he turned slowly to see who it was that had happened upon him, fully prepared to flee, if need be.

There weren't many things that brought Jarrod out into the daylight besides the temptation of courting a mate and refreshing his stores of herbs and other natural substances for experiments. He was in dark clothing; tailored trousers, a puffy shirt, and black waistcoat. To match his black attire, he wore black gloves and a satchel for the gathering of herbs, roots, and flowers.

He had made his way from a garden he had planted and was now off to the forest from which he fetched flowers. His thoughts were almost too caught up in needing Monkshood and Nightshade to notice the human form lying in the grass. The pale man blinked, wondering if his eyes could be believed. Was that a.. skeleton..?

"You there, strange one." He demanded, approaching the figure. "Explain yourself." Perhaps he could have use for this being...

"You there, strange one. Explain yourself."

Well, to put it simply, that had not been the reaction he'd been expecting. He stammered, trying to come up with some sort of explanation for his being there, but all he could muster was a shrug and a vague noise of confusion. He, truthfully, hadn't any idea. About anything. His whole life was a blank space. He remembered nothing of living, and he kept waking up in random places with no memory of how he'd gotten there. It was a bit frightening, to say the least.

He scrambled to his feet and backed away from the approaching man. Something felt... off about him. He gave off the vibe of a man who was not to be touched, like a cactus or poisonous snake. He was prickly, dangerous, and the skeleton, who liked most anybody, disliked him instantly.

"I--uh--can't. I can't explain anything."

Watching a skeleton trying to stammer was quite the interesting sight. After all, with what vocal chords, lips, or tongue did it have to communicate? How did it see without eyes? As a skeptic, Jarrod believed not in magic or spirits, but in sound science that he researched daily.

"What do you mean, you cannot explain anything? You mean to tell me that a being with sentience has no memory?" He sneered, stepping closer and cutting his eyes at the clothed skeleton. "Your existence is not logical already.. What are you...?"

"I mean exactly that," answered the improbably creature. "I don't know how I came to be, or even what I am. Am I a defunct Hollow Man? A man who's consciousness was powerful enough to stick around even after death? I haven't got a clue." He wasn't about to tell the stranger about how he also had the occasional black out; he wasn't stupid.

He took several more steps backward. "Now that we've established that I mean you no harm, I'll just be on my way..."

Once the skeleton man began to step away, Jarrod began to think. Perhaps this completely ludicrous excuse for a being could serve as a perfect experiment. If the DNA of the creature had not been changed, he could take some scrapings of bone.. Yes, this could work quite well. A smirk appeared on his lips and he quickly closed the space between himself and the other man.

"Oh no, you will not be going anywhere, my treasure." The thin man chuckled deviously. "I have plans for you."

A shiver ran up the skeleton's spine and rattled his bones at the other's words. Oh, no, this wasn't good. Not good at all. He might not have had anything to fear from pain or death, but the way this man was looking at him, the way he spoke, it filled poor Skully with dread.

"Plans? I'm afraid my schedule's already full, sorry!" He chuckled nervously. "I've got places to go, people to see, you know... Very, very busy. I'll try to pencil you in for another time, perhaps!" And with that, he turned and began running as fast as his legs could carry him.

It took a moment for Jarrod to begin running, as he was amazed that a creature without any musculature could move that way. But, once he snapped back to reality, he grinned wickedly and took off after the skeleton. "No you don't!" He growled.

When the scientist didn't seem to be gaining ground quickly, he sneered and pushed himself even harder. Finally, he threw himself at the creature's legs, hoping that without those limbs, escape would be night impossible.

The Skeleton yelped as he was tackled to the ground, feeling his legs disconnect from his hips. Well, this was an upsetting development... Fine, then. If the stranger wanted a fight, then it was a fight he'd get!

Twisting around, the skeleton backhanded the other across the face as hard as he could. He really wasn't built for combat, and he wasn't really sure what damage he could do in a situation like this, but he sure wasn't going to go down without putting up some sort of fight!

A slap was certainly not something he expected, but Jarrod still seemed to keep his composure. The bones against his cheek felt much like a switch whipping him in the face while running through thick trees. He'd lived through much worse. Laughing maniacally, he released one of the skeleton's dislocated legs and grabbed for its shirt.

"You fool.. You think you could escape thanks to a measly smack?! You vastly underestimate me, creature!" He snarled, pulling himself to sit up on top of the legs he'd torn off.
