First topic message reminder :

Before the event begins, I would like to provide everyone with a (rather shitty) pair of maps of the accessible areas of the castle, and remind you all of the rules and gameplay.

Gameplay 














-An assassin will be chosen at random and messaged in secret by LyricTheBard.

-The assassin can attempt to kill targets at any time, but each attack must be spaced out between at least five consecutive moves. To do this, the assassin must first PM Lyric with “I attempt to kill (insert character's name) with (insert weapon).” Lyric will then roll a d20 dice to see if this attempt is successful. Any number lower than 15 is unsuccessful, any number above 10 but below 15 means that the character has either been wounded by the attack or otherwise knows the attack happened but did not see who attacked them, 5-9 means that the attack missed and went unnoticed, 2-4 means that they know something is amiss and increases your chances of discovery by a percentage (which will increase every time the assassin rolls a 2-4. When their percentage reaches 100%, their indentity will be revealed and the manhunt will begin), and a 1 means that there is a chance of discovery. If a one is rolled, Lyric will roll again to see if the assassin is discovered. If another one is rolled, then the assassin is revealed to the person attacked and they have the opportunity to announce the assassin's identity to the rest of the players. Any other number indicates that a clue is left behind. The smaller the number, the more damaging (and hilarious) the clue. Some clues will be in the form of attention-grabbing events.

-If you are attacked by the assassin but manage to live, Lyric will PM you with the details of the attack and the clue left behind (if there happens to be one). If you are killed by the assassin, you will be notified by the assassin themselves, who will indicate how they have killed you and their reasoning behind it. Lyric will post about the attack, and your character will be out of the game and will become a clue. You may make a single post after this describing your character's death without giving the killer's identity away. You can watch the game unfold at this point, but are not allowed to make any other posts within the thread or reveal the identity of the assassin to anyone. Please don't spoil the game for anyone!

-NPCs can be killed by the assassin, too. Guards, servants, and members of Parliament are all fair game. The assassin will message Lyric with who they want to kill and how, and how well the attack goes will be determined by a d20, same as before. Characters such as Ben, Page, and Reaver will be made harder to kill. You must roll a natural 20 TWICE in order to assassinate these characters. Lyric will interrupt the thread with the results of the attack.

-The assassin can leave false clues to incriminate another character by sending Lyric a PM with the desired clue. This can only be done to incriminate a character once per round.

-At random intervals, LyricTheBard will interrupt the thread to provide a clue or hint. Whether or not this clue or hint will be useful to the investigation is a mystery. These clues will be left in this manner: “There is a broken vase in the hall.”

-Players can choose to investigate these clues, and Lyric will then tell them what they have discovered in doing so. For example. “Myra decided to investigate the broken vase in the hallway. She searched the area for more clues.” To which Lyric will reply, “Myra found scuff marks on the floor and a few droplets of blood on the floor and wall. There was a struggle here.” Myra can then continue to search for more clues, or move on.

-A player order will be decided at random via the roll of a dice. Players must make their “moves” only during their turn, but can post roleplay replies at any time, so long as they do not indicate a move within the game. Example:


-Lyric provides the clue “An awful stench is coming from the kitchens.”

-It is Myra's turn, but Seraphina wants to make a comment about the smell: “Seraphina wrinkled her nose in disgust and covered her face with a hand. 'What is that? It reeks!' she groaned.” This is the correct way to post a roleplay reply without indicating a move.


-The incorrect response would be something like this: “Seraphina wrinkled her nose in disgust and covered her face with a hand. 'What is that? It reeks!' she groaned, walking towards the kitchens to investigate the smell.” This is incorrect, because it is not Seraphina's turn to move. If Myra were to decide to move to investigate, and Seraphina was next, she could move to join her, but cannot steal Myra's turn.

-To indicate that there is a move within a roleplay post, make the title of the reply “MOVEMENT” and change the color to red.

-Players can announce who they believe to be the assassin on their turn to move, but to do so is to forfeit the chance for movement. The player accused must then attempt to prove that they are not the killer. If they fail to convince the other players, they will be arrested. If they were innocent, then Lyric will announce OOC that the assassin is still at large. The arrested player must sit out of the game for one round or until there is another attack to prove their innocence.

-There will be a map created of the building to give players a better visual understanding of where they are and where clues can be found. This will be posted when the topic is created and the game starts.

-Lyric will also be playing the parts of NPCs such as the King and Queen of Gallia (a kingdom we created based off of France to add political intrigue and bolster the lore and geography), the guards, and other important characters.

-The game will begin Oct. 28th at 6pm CST, and end Oct. 31st at 12am CST. If the assassin has not been discovered by then, they will have won the game! If they have been discovered, the person who revealed their identity and captured them will have won the game! The prize will be a badge for your profile. c:


THE GAME HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO NOVEMBER 25TH, 12:01 AM CST!!!!!





-You do not have to have a completed character application to play in this event! You must have an account with this site and at least started your character application in order to play.

-Note: This event will be considered canon, but any players who are killed in the event will not have died in the canon. This includes Reaver. Ben and Page are NOT granted this immunity.

Normally she was not one to participate in such events as these. Besides it not being her choice of an evening out, she was normally far too busy to go, but she'd had the night off and decided that it would be a waste of an opportunity if she did not use the event to socialize and introduce herself to potential, well paying, future clients. So the blonde mercenary had donned a nice dress and a mask that, while keeping in the spirit of the occasion, did not fully obscure her face nor hint that she were one of the more extravagant of those guests that were far more well off and had little need to watch their budgets. Upon her entry into the ballroom, she'd taken possession of a glass of champagne as one of the trays had passed her, after all if she were there then she might as well enjoy herself to some extent, and she wouldn't say no to free drinks, even if she had plans to limit herself to just the one.

So with champagne held delicately in hand, she mingled about, chatting with anyone who seemed as though they would, at least eventually, be in need of her particular services for a few minutes before milling about to chat up someone else. She never stayed in one place for very long, though she did decide to stay within the ballroom, after all that seemed to be where everyone else wished to stay.

When the infamous tycoon, Reaver, began to speak Morgaine had only paused when the person she was speaking to had turned to watch and listen, taking a sip of her drink as she too, turned. If only to keep up appearances of caring, after all.

So to say that it was a surprise when Reaver clutched his chest and collapsed to the ground was an understatement. The ballroom was completely silent, for a moment, before it seemed to erupt. While it wasn't complete chaos, everyone seemed to decide that this was the opportune time to start debating what had happened and who was responsible. Typical. A few people took the moment and began to help, she noted, rushing to Reaver's side to see if they could be of any kind of assistance. The mercenary watched the scene as it began to unfold before her eyes, taking one last sip of her champagne before turning to set it down on a nearby table.

It didn't look as though the guards were about to let anyone leave, an understandable reaction, considering that the one who was responsible for what had just happened could very well still be there within the castle walls. Moving about seemed the best course of action then, with a turn she focused her gaze upon the doorway to the hall that was connected to the ballroom. Her long strides headed down the hall, taking a right to what looked to be the dining room.

The tapestry in the corner moved, just enough so that it caught her eye and she frowned, staring at it for a moment before she stepped completely into the room and headed towards it to investigate. Her steps were careful, and she couldn't help but be a little bit suspicious of the odd bit of movement, but she was intent on investigating regardless, her curiosity growing in light of the odd movement and the entire situation that was currently going on within the castle walls.

"A-- Ah, yes, well," The auburn-haired woman cleared her throat and shifted a bit in response to the blue-eyed young lady. "I'm sure this all looks terribly strange, but I was hoping to do my part to help dig up some evidence against our would-be assassin." She gestured to the portraits behind her. "I found some intriguing additions to these paintings, but--"

"Excuse me!"

Lyra whipped her head around with a start at the source of yet another voice, taking in the sight of a strange gentleman with a decidedly. . unique costume as he attempted to pass her and the younger woman. "Oh, I'm dreadfully sorry!" she said, hurriedly stepping back toward the wall to let him through, in spite of her better judgement. There was something not quite right here. .

"Thank you," the skeleton muttered, tipping his feathered hat as he moved past her, only for his booted foot to get caught on the edge of the beautiful Gallian rug and send him careening to the floor. With a mighty crash and a curse, his bones went a-flying this way and that--a femur over here, a few fingers over there, his skull coming to lie several feet from his neck, and the like. 

"Oh, dear!" spoke the skull, straining to roll itself to where it could better see the shambles his body lay in. "Erm... Would you ladies be so kind as not to scream? And also help put me back together again? If it's not too much to ask."

As the redhead began to explain the situation, Emira nodded and listened carefully, then she heard the part about the large paintings that hung on the wall, and her bright blue eyes wandered about the somewhat darkened hall. "Well, that's quite intr-- oh!"

The pair gasped and stared as the strange man walked through with his exquisitely detailed costume, and Emira was quite impressed with the amount of detail that was put into it. She stepped aside for him to pass, but his shined boot was caught on the rug, and that's when all hell broke loose. Instead of falling like one would normally do... He... shattered. The freckled redhead covered her mouth as to not scream, like he so kindly asked them not to do.

'Oh gods, what do I do, what do I do if I cannot scream?!' She asked herself in a panic.

Hollowman!

The golden-clad woman was acting before she could even think, wrapping her hands around the nearest blunt object her fingers could find. A . .candlestick? Well, it was something.

She brandished her newfound weapon toward the pile of bones on the floor and placed herself between it-- him?-- and the woman in blue, all-too aware of how silly she looked. But it wasn't every day a skeleton got up and walked around. Not one with such good manners, anyway.

"E-- Explain yourself!" She hissed, not wishing to raise her voice and alarm more people than necessary. "Be you Man, or. . Or Hollowman?"

"To be honest, I'm not exactly sure m'self," the skeleton admitted, his right arm gesturing a bit, despite the fact that it was several feet away from the rest of him. "I only woke up about a fortnight ago, y'see. Can't remember a damn thing. No name, no idea how I died... Just bones and dust. So I cannot tell you what I am, or what I'm not." Then his bones gave a twitch and he grunted. "Well, aside from the fact that I am in dire straights at the moment. Could use a hand or two, if you're willing."

What an. . odd situation this was.

The woman in the one-eyed mask mulled over the skeleton's request warily, her brows raised in both alarm and intrigue. She glanced around a moment, relieved that the other attendees seemed content with keeping to the ballroom. Likely, the bulk of the crowd wanted to keep together in relative security, under the watch of guardsmen, soldiers, and heroes such as Lady Page and Commander Benjamin Finn. That would make anyone feel safe, she supposed.

"Well? What do you make of this?" She asked the young lady behind her. She was willing to trust this strange being-- her curiosity had gotten the best of her once again-- but she figured she ought to get a second opinion. "Should we trust him?"
